Most of the tap games out there offer some features to keep the player base engaged and entertained. In Tap Titans 2 case, we can enter tournaments, battelling other players for the number one spot, to collect the best rewards.
However, when I joined my first tournaments, I noticed that it is not easy to claim a decent spot, as there are many more players that also strive to be the number one. Because of that, I want to give you tips and tricks on winning tournaments much easier in Tap Titans 2.
But before I explain the tips and tricks, it is essential to know how tournaments work in this game. So let us start with that first.
How do tournaments work in Tap Titans 2:
Tournaments happen twice a week, every Sunday and Wednesday at 00:00 UTC. If you join a tournament (only available for 24 hours), you will get placed into different prize brackets (Reddit) based on your potential max stage. Depending on the prize bracket, you compete with up to 200 other players around the world, and rewards get better the higher you place in the bracket.
But what is a potential max stage? Well, an algorithm will put you in one of 10 brackets, considering your Skill Points, Pets, Hero Weapons, Crafting Power Level, Artifact Levels, and collected equipment. The algorithm will then take everything together, and calculate the max stage, that you could reach with a fully optimized build.
At the moment you join a new tournament, you will get put into a group with players that have similar potential. This is also the reason why we can see gaps between players, as this (usually) means that someone has a much more optimized build than the others.
During a tournament, all players that entered get specific bonuses, which are rotated through every tournament:
- x10 gold from bosses
- Heroes, Clan Ship, and War cry skill will each do x3 damage
- Regenerate +5 additional mana per minute
- Probability type bonuses will increase by x1.2
- Heavenly Strike, Hand of Midas, and Shadow Clone skills will each be x3 as strong
- x10 gold earned from Chestersons
- You will have 100% chance of receiving multiple fairy rewards
- Taps, Pet Attacks, and Firesword skill will each do x3 damage
- +20% refund on all active skill mana costs
- Amount of relics earned increased by x1.5
But the best bonus that we get during a tournament is an x1.5 relics boost, which enables us to farm even more relics. However, these tournaments are much more competitive, as everyone wants to get as many relics as possible during the tournament. This boost also counts to Silver and Titan chests, which can be purchased in the shop.
So, now that you know how tournaments work in Tap Titans 2 let us take a look at the tips and tricks to win them.
Saving and spending relics:
Relics can be obtained by prestige after reaching a certain stage. Saving relics and spending them after joining a tournament is probably the easiest way to win them. Newly discovered artifacts count to your potential max stage, allowing you to get a significant advantage over other players. If you are lucky enough, you can also find S-Tier artifacts, which give you an even greater boost.
To collect relics efficiently, you should try to get the Book of Shadows, as it increases the number of relics that you get from prestige. If you already have all the different artifacts discovered, you should upgrade them during a tournament.
I highly recommend trying to discover the Book of Shadows as fast as you can, as it is probably the best artifact in the game. You will be able to get more relics from your farming runs during tournaments than other players without, or a weaker Book of Shadows.

Buying equipment during tournaments:
Another excellent way to increase your potential max stage during a tournament is to buy new equipment for your swordmaster. To buy new weapons or armor, go to your equipment and click on Crafting in the upper right corner. This step works exactly the same as buying new artifacts, so you should save as much crafting stones as possible.
However, I only recommend buying Mythic tier items, as they give you by far the best bonuses for tournaments and overall damage. If you are not able to purchase new equipment during a tournament, you should instead save it to the point you can, and not buy cheaper gear.
Use your diamonds to upgrade:
By playing Tap Titans 2 actively, you will collect a good amount of diamonds per day. Save these diamonds to buy pets and chests from the shop (if available), to increase your potential max stage, especially in the early days.
If you are further progressed in the game, you should instead spend your diamonds on Titan Chests. These contain chests containing seven different items that are extremely helpful:
- x10 Crafting Shards
- x3 Skill Points
- x5 Lv.5 Pet
- x6 Fortune Weapon
- x50.40K Total Relics
- x1000 Dust
- x150 Firestones
Tip 1: Join a high-ranked clan:
Clans not only allow us to fight together in raids, no, but they also give us an advanced start every time we prestige. Having an advanced start enables us to reach higher stages faster, and it gives us a significant advantage over other players that joined a weaker clan.
Tip 2: Use your skills permanently:
As of 22nd May 2020, we can activate up to six different skills at once, to increase our damage, or to earn more gold. Activating skills like War Cry or Shadow Clone can help us push to even higher stages and claim the number one spot.
I would recommend tapping on each fairy that appears, as they can give us a massive amount of gold, and perks, or even activate all of our skills at once. Note that you have to watch a video ad to claim these rewards.
