Hunt Showdown mixes PvP and PvE elements together, creating a whole new experience in the Survival/FPS shooter genre. The principle is simple, recruit one out of four Hunters, or a legendary Hunter, and join the Bounty hunt.
However, any weapon, no matter which type or size, can be deadly and eliminate you with one swift strike. So, what happens if you die in a game of Hunt Showdown?
If a player dies in Hunt Showdown, the Hunter will be lost, including all equipped items, traits, and weaponry. Players under level 11 have a beginners-protection so that dead Hunters can be used again. In the Quickplay mode, the death of Hunters is permanent, like in the Bounty Hunt mode.
Because every death in Hunt is permanent (excluding players under Lvl 11), playing a game with a Hunter is always a risk, especially if he is already in the upper levels (max level 50). However, playing with a leveled Hunter can also make it easier to extract because you have more traits.
Note: Losing a Hunter will not affect your Bloodline or prestige; however, you will only get half of the money and XP you would get if you escaped.
Do you lose legendary Hunters?
Legendary Hunters can only be unlocked by purchasing their dedicated DLC or spending a specific amount of Blood Bonds, which varies between the characters.
If a player loses a legendary Hunter in a game of Hunt Showdown, they can be recruited again for 333 Hunt Dollars in the shop. Legendary Hunters also come with three random traits and are always available because they are locked to the player’s account.
Do you lose legendary weapons?
Like legendary Hunters, legendary weapons are more detailed skins of specific weapons and can be unlocked by purchasing the dedicated DLC or spending Blood Bonds.
If your Hunter with a legendary weapon dies, the weapon will be lost permanently. However, legendary weapons can be purchased in the shop after a game for a specific amount of Hunt Dollars.
Besides, legendary weapons are usually a bit more expensive than their regular counterparts. But they look much better!
Legendary weapons that got required by reaching a certain prestige or through Trial rewards, like the Sparks LRR Lousianna Lunstrum or Winfield M1873 Fifty Laurels, can also be purchased again if you lose them.

How do you survive?
Surviving requires a blend of strategy, patience, and skill. Here are some tips to increase your survival chances in this deadly game.
1. Stay Silent: The sound in Hunt Showdown is a crucial element. Even minor sounds can alert other players to your location. Whether it’s the barking of dogs, the cawing of crows, or the crackle of a gunshot, each noise can give away your position.
2. Use Dark Sight: Dark Sight is a unique mechanic in Hunt Showdown that lets you see clues, bounties, and recently, even enemy Hunters carrying a bounty. This feature can be a game-changer if used strategically.
3. Equip the Right Gear: You’re only as good as your gear. Make sure you’re well-equipped for the task at hand. Each weapon and tool has its specific use, and understanding these uses can make or break your game.
4. Teamwork is Key: If you’re playing in a team, communication is paramount. A well-coordinated team can easily take down even the most formidable opponents.
5. Use the Environment: The environment can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Use cover, high ground, and other environmental features to gain an advantage in battles.
Can you restore your health in Hunt Showdown?
Yes, you can restore your health in Hunt Showdown, but it’s not as straightforward as it might seem. There are a few ways to regain lost health:
- First Aid Kits: These are the most straightforward method. You can carry up to three charges of a First Aid Kit, and each charge restores 50 health points. However, using a First Aid Kit is not instantaneous and leaves you vulnerable for a few seconds.
- Vitality Shots: These shots can fully restore your health instantly, but they are more expensive than First Aid Kits, and you can only carry one at a time.
- Medical Supplies: These are scattered around the map in Supply Points. They can fully restore your health, but using them takes time and makes noise, potentially alerting nearby Hunters.
Remember, while these methods can restore your health, they cannot recover lost health chunks. These can only be restored by successfully banishing a boss or using the rarely found “Weak Vitality Shot.”
Is it Cross-platform?
As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Hunt Showdown supports cross-platform play between players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. PC players, however, do not have cross-play capabilities with console players due to balancing issues such as the speed and accuracy of mouse and keyboard controls.
However, cross-platform play is something Crytek (the developers of Hunt Showdown) is open to, so it may be possible in the future.
Conclusion
Whether you’re a lone wolf or prefer to hunt in packs, the game provides an immersive, challenging experience with high stakes for every match. Remember, in this game, death is not an escape but a significant loss, so play smart, keep your wits about you, and do good hunting!
